| 3 Days / 2 Nights Bears of Admiralty Sea Kayaking Journey |
| Admiralty Island |
 |
The Tlingit People call the island Kootznoowoo - "Fortress of the Bears." Admiralty Island is a lush rainforest wilderness with the world's largest population of nesting bald eagles and more brown bears per square mile than anywhere in the world. You will not easily forget the "Fortress of the Bears" once you have camped under its lush canopy, paddled sea kayaks along its shores, explored its ancient forests, and watched its brown bears feasting on migrating salmon. This rainforest paradise is the crown jewel of the Tongass National Forest. Our July and August trips coincide with the bountiful annual salmon runs, creating superb bear watching opportunities. In June, watch for bears grazing in the meadows adjacent to Pack Creek. The trip includes the much sought-after permits to visit the world-famous Stan Price Bear Sanctuary at Pack Creek, where we spend a full day watching for brown bears as they lope up and down the creek in pursuit of salmon. Due to limited permits for the bear sanctuary, these trips fill early. Begins and ends in Juneau. |

We begin the morning with an early morning orientation meeting in Juneau. We then head to the airport pond, where we board floatplanes for a scenic flight down the Inside Passage to Admiralty Island, landing on a secluded beach. We will set up camp a few miles from the sanctuary. After lunch and a kayak lesson, we will begin exploring this fascinating wilderness. You may find time to walk the beach, view the diverse marine and bird life, or just gaze across the inlet to the stunning coastal mountains while your guides cook a fresh and delicious dinner. |

We rise early and prepare for our visit to the Stan Price Brown Bear Sanctuary at Pack Creek. Paddling toward the world of the brown bear is a superb way to experience the entire ecosystem. We will spend a full day watching for bears. We hope to see several bears, including family groups with playful cubs. Bears are best viewed at the mouth of Pack Creek, but we may also take the beautiful forest hike to the observation tower on the upper river where bears may be fishing right below us. |

| 6 Days / 5 Nights Glacier Bay Sea Kayaking Adventure |
| Glacier Bay National Park |
 |
This sea kayak adventure explores the entire length of Glacier Bay National Park's tranquil East Arm, including several days spent intimately experiencing famous Muir Inlet with its gorgeous McBride and Riggs Glaciers. In almost one week we can observe the complete ecological process from densely vegetated lush rainforest to newly exposed rock. Paddling between huge icebergs in front of a towering glacier face is an unforgettable experience. It's the best way to see Glacier Bay! We will also fly over the Bay in a floatplane, which gives us a bird's eye view of this World Heritage site. When we aren't paddling, there will be opportunities to beachcomb, hike, and observe and photograph birds, marine mammals, and other wildlife. We hope to see both black and brown bears. We'll move camp most days, but are able to spend two nights at one location to permit a full day of rest and relaxation, or an optional hike. Explorations on foot give us another wondrous view of this elaborate ecosystem. This is one of our most popular and active trips where expectations are exceeded and abilities are pushed. Begins and ends in Gustavus. |

After a hearty breakfast, we head to Bartlett Cove, headquarters for Glacier Bay National Park. We board a floatplane for an unforgettable flight to the head of pristine Muir Inlet where we have our first kayaking lesson and begin paddling. |
|
| 03 - 05 |
We travel through geologic time to an age when icefields and glaciers covered much of North America. As we camp along the shores, we will witness the rebirth of a new land emerging as the ice retreats and new flora and fauna enliven the landscape. Glaciers and ice fill our senses, as we kayak, hike and camp in this fascinating bay. We will paddle along two or three stunning glaciers including the Muir and McBride Glaciers. On clear days, the backdrop of the Fairweather Range is unparalleled. This is a perfect trip for both experienced kayakers and active people who have never kayaked. |
|

We board our charter vessel for a trip back to Glacier Bay park headquarters. Put your feet up and watch the terrific scenery and wildlife as you relax and rest your tired muscles. We will arrive in Gustavus in late afternoon, in time for the southbound jet. |

Itinerary |
| 1 |
We will meet in Gustavus for an early morning pre-trip meeting. We depart from the Gustavus dock, where we board a chartered cabin cruiser for the ride across Icy Strait. Start watching for whales! We'll unload off the stunning coastline near Point Adolphus on Chichagof Island, in the heart of the Tongass National Forest. We will be based in our wilderness camp for two nights. |
|
| 2 |
Point Adolphus juts out into Icy Strait causing an "upwelling" which churns up nutrients from the ocean floor, creating unsurpassed feeding grounds for humpback whales. Other marine animals make use of this upwelling, including seals, sea lions, and sea birds. During the day we will paddle the coastline of Chichagof Island which gives us an excellent opportunity to photograph and observe the abundant marine life. Our paddling distance will be tailored to the group. |
|
| 3 |
In the morning spend some time beachcombing or explore the forest. We paddle to our pick-up point and board our charter boat back to Gustavus. The journey begins and ends in Gustavus. |
