| Where else can you take a scenic floatplane trip, sea kayak into a rainforest wilderness, have an excellent opportunity to see Alaskan brown bears, and be back in a capital city in time for dinner? This one-day excursion is extraordinary! This full-day adventure begins early in the morning. We pick you up in downtown Juneau, outfit you with gear, then head out on a 25-minute scenic floatplane flight to Windfall Island in the Admiralty Island National Monument. From there, we sea-kayak to the edge of the Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary. A short beach walk brings us to the mouth of Pack Creek, where we hope to see Alaskan brown bear fishing for salmon or feeding in the beach meadows. We may also take a marvelous 1.5 Mile hike through the old-growth coastal rainforest to an observation tower on upper Pack Creek. No experience is necessary, but prepare yourself for easy hiking and sea kayaking, and possible inclement weather (we provide rain gear). |

| Whichever name you choose, this area provides one of the most fascinating glimpses of true Alaska wilderness you can experience in one day. Operated by Alaska's most experienced adventure travel company, this 7-hour trip includes a scenic round-trip floatplane ride between Juneau and Admiralty Island, an exploration on foot of the beaches and meadows of Windfall Harbor and the shores of Windfall Creek, and the chance to see the flora and fauna of America's most outstanding ancient rainforest. First protected by Presidential proclamation under Jimmy Carter in 1979, and now managed as Wilderness by the U.S. Forest Service, the million-acre Admiralty Island is the country's largest protected old growth forest. As a World Heritage Biosphere Reserve, Admiralty Island is the crown jewel of the Tongass National Forest. The island’s Pack Creek/Stan Price Brown Bear Sanctuary encompasses several salmon streams which are feeding areas for the brown bears. The bears tend to be most visible at Pack Creek because of years of human visitation. Windfall Creek is an important salmon stream for bears in the Sanctuary as well, but it is more wild, more pristine and very beautiful. Bears tend to be more wary and less visible. Chances of seeing bears are very good, but not guaranteed. Walking for 1-3 miles. Bear watching, photography and birdwatching. |

Once there your guide will lead you on a wilderness trek, making sure your every sense is tuned to the presence of the great Alaskan Brown Bear who call this country home. You will see brown bears on the beaches, which they frequent to munch on fish, intertidal creatures, grasses, and seaweeds. |
